Roby accommodated a growing family by converting a third-floor attic into usable space while adding a bedroom to the second floor. The new U-shaped staircase presented a challenge during the design of the project but offered a natural separation between the two living spaces. The new space on the third floor - designed around four windows and studded with recessed lighting - added 600 square feet to the house while preserving access to the remaining attic space.
