The optimum space plan maintained the dressing/ vanity area with the closets. There had been a soffit over the original vanities that were removed to provide openness in the limited space. The vanities designed provided greater storage with taller counter height (36”) and tower cabinets for personal items. Furniture details on the cabinets extended the vintage look and quality of the home. Recessed and decorative lighting provided the appropriate lighting levels for the bathroom since there are no windows to the dressing area. The bathroom space was carefully space planned optimizing all of the space available. The garden tub was removed allowing space for a large shower with a seat and niches. The water closet location was maintained and provided privacy. Also, in the space of the existing shower a stack washer and dryer were installed with a drain, and were rated for a second floor installation. Niches for laundry products were also designed. Materials used were consistent with the architectural style of the home. A white carrera basket weave mosaic was used in the shower floor and feature strip, and bathroom floor. Porcelain tiles were used in the shower and floor border tile for ease of maintenance and color coordination. Quality plumbing fixtures in a vintage style were also specified.
