Andrew Roby added a mountain-house-style kitchen and den to a historic home. By bumping out the rear wall of the house, Roby added a small den and allowed the kitchen to become the centerpiece of the house. With soapstone counters, heart-pine flooring, cedar shakes - framing the whole room with pine beams and fabricated panels - Roby created a new space that satisfied the owner's desire for a rustic space while satisfying the historic committee.
